Harry & Sally Porter Heart Center Fundraising Drive
Each year, over 400 of our neighbors are affected by heart problems, and for most of them, their only choice is to travel away from home to seek treatment – until now.

In March of 2007, FMH was proud to welcome cardiologist Dr. Rick Latham to our community and we subsequently opened the Cardiology Clinic and Cath Lab. Since then, our residents have been able to receive the care they need locally – saving them the time, money and stress caused by traveling for treatment. While these were significant accomplishments, they were just the first phase of our vision to provide our community with a wide range of cardiology services.

This state-of-the-art facility (construction to begin in 2009) will house the most advanced technology, a wider range of services, and the best physicians and staff, all working together for a heart-healthy community.

Long-time Fairbanks residents Harry & Sally Porter have always had big hearts when it comes to our community – so we felt it was only fitting the new heart center was named after them.

Year after year, Harry & Sally have demonstrated their commitment and dedication to the health of Fairbanks. More than 40 years ago, Harry helped found The Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation, and was critical in the initial fundraising effort. Since then, Harry has served continuously as a volunteer board member and is now a trustee emeritus on The Hospital Foundation board. We are proud the new Heart Center will carry the name of a couple who have shown such heartfelt dedication to our community.
